Sometimes minor changes are all a room needs for a dramatic new look. That was the case for this recent restyle of a traditional sitting room. The room was already painted yellow when the homeowners moved in and they felt like the room was missing some cohesion. Instead of the larger more expensive task of painting the room, we worked to keep the yellow and bring out more of the blue tones already in existence in the blue and white porcelain displayed on the bookshelf.

The blue throw pillows helped further the blue balance throughout the room. The other pillows equally paired nicely with both the blue pillows and new blue area rug. The most dramatic change was the cream slipcover for the sofa. It fit the old sofa like a glove, and instantly transformed the space! Sometimes you may think you need to purchase all new accessories to complete a new look, but not the case. For this room, the homeowner already had such beautiful pieces that were able to be utilized, especially in reworking the bookshelf. As you can see from the photos, just a few new additions and some rearranging made it look like a whole new bookshelf.

What was once a traditional sitting room that was rarely sat in is now a room everyone wants to sit in! Mission Accomplished.
