ON TREND: Raffia in Home Decor

I recently featured a raffia side table in my last blog on FAB FINDS for the bedroom. This emergence of raffia being seen in furniture more and more lately was worth a blog just on it alone, featuring all my favorite raffia pieces I love right now.

By definition, raffia is a natural fiber created from a palm plant that can be both dyed and woven as a textile. That versatility allows it to be used in so many ways in home decor items. While it has always been a well-known textile, I think it is having a moment right now in furniture and accessories due to the natural textured look it gives off. Natural organic textures and colors are on trend right now, and raffia helps bring that trend to life in furniture, often being wrapped around wooden furniture pieces. A lot the pieces I love right now featuring it are examples of how it can look natural, but also high quality and luxe with modern elements like gold hardware being added to the pieces.

If you are looking for some new pieces for your home, consider an alternative material choice like these raffia pieces:

Serena and Lily are definitely on board with raffia (and I really could just do this post on all their pieces because they have that many amazing ones), and here is the side table I love, shown in the dyed blue color. A bold statement both in color and unique texture.

Serena and Lily call this color Fog, and I’m a fan. Not fully grey, it still looks natural and would mix well with many different color schemes. I like this console table because it could be for an entry way, in a living room, in a hallway, etc., dressed up or down depending on how modern or casual you are going for.

What’s not to love about this coffee table? Also by Serena and Lily, and same color as above, it is modern, fresh, cool, casual, contemporary, all in one!

A fun look for an accent stool . If you like clean minimal decor, this could be the perfect pop of color to add to a room.

For an updated look, try a raffia lampshade like this one . Paired with a ceramic glazed base, it really would compliment coastal, contemporary, or earthy vibe.

This is a great wood sideboard covered in a natural raffia textured material. The hardware used here really shows off how luxe raffia can look and I’m a fan.

This is a great side table that could be used in a living room or bedroom. The color is called Cream, but it looks a bit more beige like. I like that it has the gold drawer pulls AND gold legs are added elegant touch.

Such an unique display shelf here (or etagere if you want to be proper). Uniquely crafted with a drawer on the bottom, this would be a great alternative to a standard wood bookcase or display shelf.

This is a very cool upholstered bench that would lend itself to both modern and casual decor styles. Definitely a stand out piece for a room.

A modern nightstand here is shown in sandstone wash so it looks like a traditional wood piece in coloring, but still as that raffia texture that makes a statement.

This Modern dresser in a darker natural color here would be ideal for natural rustic or contemporary space.
