1/ black

Never underestimate how powerful a black door can be. Classic and bold, it can help to modernize a dated front entrance. Black can work for all styles of homes, including the traditional look below, which contrasts perfectly with the light neutral exterior paint and trim colors and allows the door to further stand out. Two popular choices are classic black are MOPBOARD BLACK and JET BLACK by Benjamin Moore. Consider a glossy black color for extra boldness, like BLACK MAGIC by Sherwin-Williams. And SOOT by Benjamin Moore is a moody gray-black that is a great almost-black shade that is just as impactful for a front door.

2 / bright red

Painting a front door red may seem like a far-fetched color for you to even consider, but when paired with the right palette, it can look timeless and really warm up a home. CALIENTE is a great choice that will make a bold statement, adding warmth and energy to a front door. A warm color like this pairs great with neutral exterior homes. Benjamin Moore’s HERITAGE RED is a similar hue equally warm and vibrant.

HERITAGE RED is a bit brighter and makes an equally bold statement. If you really want your home to stand out, this red will do the trick. Look how great it looks below paired with the white trim and dark gray exterior.

3/ earth-toned green

A muted earthy green color for the door is a great choice because it reflects the natural surroundings. A color like LICHEN No.19 by Farrow & Ball is a smart green choice that is subtle and sophisticated with an underlying blue tone. And it also works well with other earth toned exteriors, like brick, as shown below. A similar shade is LOUSIBURG GREEN by Benjamin Moore.

4/ light gray-green

If you just want a touch of color without making it too dramatic, opting for a soft neutral blue-gray color like GREYHOUND by Benjamin Moore is a perfect choice. Part blue, part gray, it gives off a green hue that is pleasing to the eyes, and makes a great alternative to just going with standard gray. I also love SEA SALT by Sherwin-Williams as another great gray-green choice quite similar to GREYHOUND, as you can see below.

5/ deep gray-blue

A bold blue smoky gray paint color can make for a great statement front door. NIGHT TRAIN by Benjamin Moore is a top pick for that perfect sophisticated blue tone. And OVAL ROOM BLUE No.85 by Farrow & Ball is a similar color that is slightly lighter for a brighter overall appearance.

6/ coral

Want to cheer up your front door? Try a coral color paint like CORAL SPICE by Benjamin Moore or LEI FLOWER by Sherwin-Williams that is not too loud and not too soft. For a more orange color, PERSIMMON by Sherwin-Williams is an alternative choice that comes off as a deep peachy coral. All of these would look great paired with browns and tans, and white can make each stand out even more.

7/ sky blue

Sky blue is an uplifting & inviting color, which is just the vibe what you want for the front of the home. Going for a calming blue tone like BREATH OF FRESH AIR by Benjamin Moore and BILLOWY BREEZE by Sherwin-Williams are two top picks for sky blue front doors. Each of these are deeper richer light blues, which makes for a stronger color choice for a front door.

8/ navy

Navy is always a classic color choice. It is timeless and bold and works for a variety of home exteriors. HALE NAVY by Benjamin Moore is a top pick for a saturated bold navy. VERY NAVY by Behr is a slightly lighter navy, but will stand out against a white exterior beautifully — check out the look below. HAGUE BLUE No.30 by Farrow & Ball is another strong blue option that is popular. Its green undertones give it a different take on navy that is just as dramatic. And GENTLEMAN’S GRAY by Benjamin Moore is remarkably similar to HAGUE BLUE and is a very popular deep blue paint color. Depending on what exterior you pair it with, you can find some variance in its boldness, as shown through two different looks below.

9/ green-blue

A perfect green-blue color is a vibrant and energizing color for a door. I love WYTHE BLUE by Benjamin Moore and the very similar color GREEN BLUE No.84 by Farrow & Ball for the perfect colors for adding a warm green blue color to a front door in a fresh way.

10/ soft gray

A great fresh take on gray for a front door color is opting for a soft gray like STONINGTON GRAY by Benjamin Moore or HARDWICK WHITE by Farrow & Ball that gives a front exterior a clean, polished look. CAPE MAY COBBLESTONE by Benjamin Moore is another great option that is a bit darker and looks elegant on a front door.

11/ pale blue-gray

A cool blue gray can give a classic modern look to a front door. I love UNCERTAIN GRAY by Sherwin-Williams and the similar color FLINT SMOKE by Behr for a subtle gray cool blue hue.

12/ dark gray

Give a dramatic gray color a try with a gray color like GRAVEL GRAY by Benjamin Moore and RAILINGS by Farrow & Ball that have blue undertones to soften each color up. IRON ORE by Sherwin-Williams is another great option that is a shade different, but still helps to give a home’s front door a commanding entrance.

13/ stone

If you want to keep things neutral, you can still create an eye-catching front door with the perfect neutral paint. Picking a beige color like STONY GROUND No.211 by Farrow & Ball is a beautiful beige color, offering warmth from the red undertones that exist. And while this would look great against a white exterior, I love the look below that shows how great it also looks even paired next to a neutral stone exterior. GRANT BEIGE by Benjamin Moore is a similar option. And for a more dramatic look, TEXAS LEATHER by Benjamin Moore is a classic darker beige that looks beautiful against white exteriors.
