Easy Design Tips For Spring Decorating

SPRING+TIPS.jpg

Ah..Spring time. Get ready to celebrate the end of winter and the arrival of spring that brings about fresh flowers, brighter days, more daylight, and a much more airy feel around us.

In preparation for the spring season soon upon us, there are a few design tips that can help you transition your home decor into a new season. Just like a spring wardrobe can be brighter and lighter and lift your mood, a spring home decor can do the same. So if you are looking for an excuse to liven up your home, spring is the perfect time โ€” Here are some standby tips that will help you love your home this season:

1 Edit your throw pillows

Throw pillows are an easy fix for brightening up bedrooms and living rooms. Sometimes just swapping out old, worn, or heavy fabrics on throw pillows can make a space feel lighter and brighter. Consider pillow covers for an affordable fix to cover any pillows without spending a lot on brand new pillows, like H&M is always a good resource for quality affordable pillow covers, like these linen ones that offers nice fresh hues to choose from and the linen fabric is the perfect, light textile for the season.

2 Bring in the scents of the season

Scented diffusers, soy candles, or room sprays can easily transform the mood of a space (and for an extra lift, find product infused with essential oils to help uplift your mood without you even realizing it, like this new line at Target that Iโ€™m loving. This is also a good time to swap out winter seasonal scents with more spring smells like juniper, citrus, and peony. Or you could find a odor eliminating candle or spray if you arenโ€™t big on scents. Iโ€™ve included more favorite scents for the home below.

3 Bring in natural elements

Adding in the elements of the season will do wonders to brighten up an area or room that is lacking life. You can never go wrong with a plant or flowers. And you donโ€™t have to have a greenthumb to incorporate a plant into your home - there are so many faux plant options available that look realistic. I like adding a couple of these faux orchid stems to a clear vase for a quick & affordable way to add color to a coffee table. Plus, there also other natural options to bring out the decor of your room, like coral sculptures, faux driftwood, and shells. Anything that will remind you of the outdoors is a great accent for a space and gives it some life.

4 Open up the windows

The best and easiest way to open up a space is through the windows, allowing natural sunlight to beam through. Consider taking down your curtains if you really want to add more light to a dull space.

5 Add some color (and some white)

Just like spring wardrobes tend to have more color than fall and winter wardrobes, a spring home decor can often benefit from a dose of color too. Bring out a color you love and maybe have displayed throughout another room, swap out different accent pieces you already own to make a bigger impact in a living room or wherever else you want to brighten things up. A coffee table refresh and mantel are perfect places to always focus on. A bright coffee table book or bright vase are examples of ways to add a bit of color into a space. Plus, adding more white will further help to brighten up a room.
