They say the most popular room in most homes is the kitchen. I think that sounds pretty accurate. People like to eat, the kitchen is where you gather with your family, and also where you socialize when you have friends over. And what room follows after that gathering? A dining area of course, to sit and eat among good company.

Whether it be a formal dining table in an actual dining room or a more casual everyday table in a breakfast nook area, a great table setting can truly impress your guests. It can be as elaborate or simple as you want. I like to create table settings at my parents’ home for special family dinners. They have a formal dining room that lends itself to traditional styling. I can also bring in contemporary elements to achieve a different look. I think of it like styling an outfit.

In terms of staging a home, and creating a cohesive appealing overall look, it is always a good idea to not forget styling a dining area, as you want to be able to have potential homeowners visualize themselves sitting there and having meals with their family. Nothing too specific, but eye catching enough to draw their attention. No matter how big or how small a home is, every home has an area that is intended for sitting and gathering and eating together, so it will surely be a key component any potential buyers will be looking for when viewing a home.
