How to Create an Outdoor Space Without Breaking the Bank
With Memorial Day Weekend right around the corner, you have just enough time to create your perfect outdoor oasis to celebrate in with your family and friends. If you are starting from scratch, and perhaps on a budget, shopping different patio looks can become a pricey process, perhaps leaving you feeling like your dream oasis is not within reach. But there are lots of options to fit within your budget. These are examples of a some affordable key pieces to create a simple patio lounge area to entertain. This overall look leans toward modern & contemporary style, but you could still utilize the same furniture pieces and swap out different pillows (see options below) and rug for a more traditional look if desired. Favorite Patio Pieces on a Budget:
I really like these Metal V Back Modern Deck Chairs. Technically, they are a “dining chair”, but they can work anywhere you need seating. I also like these budget friendly Wicker Stacking chairs as another option (each one is $22!)
To compliment the chairs, you can separately buy these Outdoor Seat Cushions to add the comfort you would find in a more expensive patio club chair. For a more affordable option, you could just get a seat cushion like these and have the back of of the chair either exposed or use a pillow instead of a cushion for the back.
This Outdoor Loveseat is about the best affordable option I have found in terms of a modern metal look with great cushions. I think it compliments any style you are going with as well. Plus, it is durable to withstand the outdoor elements and stay white and bright all summer long!
This Mosaic Pillow is great in keeping with the modern contemporary look. Sometimes just one piece can be the inspiration for a whole look and can help bring the whole look together. I also like this black and white Tribal Mudcloth Pillow Cover.
Pillows can be costly so depending on your budget, there is always the option of affordable pillow covers. This Navy Stripe Pillow Cover and Fleur De Lis Pillow Cover are from Etsy and can easily transform an existing pillow you may already have to save money.
To supplement for a more traditional look, I love this blue Catalina Stripe Pillow Cover and this green Thicket Pillow.
There are lots of affordable table options out there, but I like this Outdoor Coffee Table because it goes great with the other furniture pieces I selected and would work well in big or small spaces.
A patio look always need a great lantern, and what I like about this Glass Outdoor Lantern is how unique it is compared to most outdoor lanterns.
I like this Elysia Outdoor Modern Rug because the pattern is small and adds enough to balance the look, and allows for the use of larger patterns and prints to be used in the pillow selections. There are also several color options to pick from.
This Turkish Stripe Beach Towel is great because it can serve as a towel or as a throw to drape over the loveseat. There are also lots of color options available.
For side table options, this Wicker Side Table is great and versatile, not to mention also $14! And this white Hourglass Modern Accent Stool costs a bit more, but would work great as a side table or stool. It also serves as a storage area inside. You could also consider having 2 stools in place of a coffee table, which would save both space AND money.
