How to Style a Beautiful Bookshelf
A perfectly styled bookshelf can do wonders for a space, no matter if it is a free standing shelving system, built-in shelving, or small bookcase. I like to style a shelf much like the way I style an overall space: seeing it as a space to display items curated over time, are personal to the owner, and reflect his or her overall style. Often times, you may not know how many unique interesting items you already own that are perfect to be displayed in a shelf. A well styled bookshelf is not just aesthetically pleasing— it can be quite functional and provide organization to a space — a key component when staging a home. The same rules apply, but less is more is definitely key. Check out my tips below to start styling your shelves today!
This project involved two built-in shelves on each side of a fireplace. Here they are side by side:
As you can see, you don’t have to copy the same pattern on each shelf or for each side to still show symmetry and cohesion. I think it makes things little more interesting to not make everything exactly the same!
