When it comes to deciding on a lamp for a space, there are endless options that can help carry out the style and overall aesthetic for a room. But another option to consider is adding a statement-making lampshade. It’s a great way to update an existing lamp you already have or bring a new look altogether to a room by pairing a fun shade with a new lamp base. It’s a trend I’ve seen more of lately and there are so many different ways to upgrade the standard neutral shade to a bolder look.
I love this look below from Ben Pentreath — it is a great example of how to work colored AND patterned lampshades into a space and have it look balanced, vibrant, and elegant with the rest of the decor. Opting for a subtle wall shade like the gray shown is a great choice for balancing out with bold color choices like the lively orange lampshade.
Consider a solid color style, like this pale blue version from ZZDECOR, a shop found on Etsy. (And bonus, it is also velvet and features gold on the inside). Speaking of velvet, that is a great option to consider for adding some richness to a space. Adding a shade with some texture like a pleated shade or a textured woven fabric is another way to add a standout shade to your decor.
