Benjamin Moore's 2021 Color of the Year
Benjamin Moore announced it’s 2021 Color of the Year long ago, but now that we are officially in the new year, it’s worth spotlighting this color and how to work it into the home. Named Aegean Teal, this blue-green color with gray undertones is a perfect balance of calm and boldness. It could really work well to livening up a space’s walls without being over the top, and with it being in the middle ground of blue-green colors, you can pair this color with both lighter and darker tones for a perfect overall color palette.
If you’re interested in creating a color palette with this teal tone, check out the one I created below that features all Benjamin Moore paint colors. You can use it as guidance for painting walls and trim within the home or use as color pairings for complimentary furniture and accents for a space with Aegean Teal colored walls.
One color that really makes Aegean Teal work well for a space is pairing it with a dark brown or gray color, like the Tulsa Twilight color shown below. That color and similar tones like it can really help to balance out teal tones for a room — case in point, the inspirational look above from Benjamin Moore that shows how adding dark tones in the form of a bench and overhead lighting adds the right amount of contrast to the wall color. And don’t feel like you are limited to just this palette. I love how that look shows the navy accent pillows, as well. Navy is another great complimentary color to this bold color choice. For my palette, I added in a pale teal shade called Whispering Spring that works because it is a lighter version of Aegean Teal.
And because it’s a great universal teal color, you can accent this color with brass and gold hardware, as well as silver, which makes it a great idea for a kitchen color, like the look below.
