Fall Refresh: Top Color Trends & How To Add Them To The Home

With the fall season soon upon us, now is a great time for a fall refresh with some new home decor. I’m sharing my fave finds in the trending colors this season that will also serve the home year round.

Earth tones are nothing new when it comes to fall. From your wardrobe to your home, working in earthy hues helps to warm up an overall look. But now more than ever, earth tones are being worked into the home as staple pieces well beyond just the fall season, giving a warmer look to a neutral color palette to decorate with. You really have such a range of color options with earth tones, which makes these colors even more appealing to decorate with. I’m sharing three favorite earth tone colors and all the ways you can work each into the home for the perfect refresh.

In addition to earth tones, bold deep indigo blues are being carried out through the home in new ways. It’s another great color choice to utilize year round, as it is is classic and timeless no matter what the style.

For an easy and subtle dose of color, small decor like dried florals and a colored vase are some of my favorite pieces to work into the home. For a bigger color statement, consider dinnerware, throw pillows, and large wall art that all can easily be worked into an existing space.

Terracotta Hues

(aka Terracotta, Clay, Rust, Paprika)

When it comes to earth tones, one of the first ones I think of is terracotta. Under the umbrella of this warm rich orange red color is even more amazing color options that are on point this season. Take clay for instance — it’s a softer way to work in a tint of terracotta in a subtle way, as it comes off more pink and less red, and it definitely having a moment right now. You can find soft clay colored decor for the home, as well as cookware — who says cookware has to be stored away anyways? With a colored pan like this SPICE ALWAYS PAN, it looks great left out when not in use. Rust is another way to go — deeper and more brown — and perfect as a neutral element to a space. And you can never go wrong with actual terracotta decor that this color is named for — I love this FRIDA VASE for adding an earthy touch in an interesting way with its modern design. l also love this TERRACOTTA REVERSIBLE PILLOW that offers a bold terracotta color on one side and a rich golden yellow on the other side - it’s like 2 pillows in 1. Deep & Golden Yellows

(aka Mustard, Ochre, Golden Yellow, Turmeric, Saffron, Nectar, Dijon)

Call it what you will (and there are a lot of names to refer to it by), there is a lot to love about a deep golden yellow hue. And while it is displayed in full force for the fall season, it can work year round as a more grounding yellow color that pairs perfectly with its other earthier color counterparts. For a bolder color statement, a true golden yellow color like this GOLDENROD VELVET PILLOW is great in the home, and can be paired with neutrals or even try bold blue or navy for an interesting contrast. And I love this SAFFRON GRENADILLA LAMP that’s ochre hue is reminiscent of the 70s where it was most popular, but with a chic pleated shade, this lamp shows how this color can get a modern look. Deep Blues

(aka Indigo, Navy, Sapphire, Ink Blue, Dark Blue )

Blue is always in style, and for a bold way to work blue into the home deep blues are a great way to go. Decor in these rich hues can easily liven up a space and equally offer the timeless touch dark blue is known for. Mossy & Earthy Greens

(aka Moss, Olive Green, Army Green, Rustic Sage)

Earthy greens are in full force and such a great color choice for any color palette, as these muted greens are a great neutral green for easily adding into a space.
