6 Favorite Staging Accessories for Staging a Home to Sell

A staged home is one step closer to being a sold home.

When a home is staged in preparation to sell, the key is downplaying personal pieces reflective of the homeowner and appealing to potential home buyers with aesthetically pleasing rooms so that individuals are able to envision themselves in the space. Every home is as unique as the homeowners that reside there and as so, will be uniquely staged based on the homeowners current furniture and accessories. That being said, there are 6 core accessories that I love to use for staging, as they work with several design schemes and help to bring together a space.

An upside to staging as you can focus on selling your home and just rent out any accessories or furniture used to stage your home during the selling process. Or you can make the choice to purchase any items used, which then become investments for you to use in your future home. Either way, never underestimate the great power a few accessories can have in a space!

So whether you are wondering where to start with your own staging or how to tweak your current home that is already on the market, here for some of my favorite staging accessories with options for every budget:

Decorative Candle Holders

Adding candle holders is an easy way to style a tabletop or mantel. I especially like to use 2 of varying sizes and an unique shape that draws the eye in. Works great on a spare coffee table or bookshelf needing some modernizing during the staging process. Gold or silver are versatile options to work with all home decor styles.

Large Seagrass Basket

Ideal for storing pillows, throw blankets, magazines. Perfect in staging because clears up any unnecessary clutter in a room. Another nifty benefit is using one as a plant holder, making a plant instantly transformed with minimal effort. The second option below would be ideal for this.

Hardback Books

A collection of books is always a good idea when looking to draw interest in a space. Whether it be a bookshelf, coffee table, end table, or entry way space, hardback books can be incorporated into a space by color or theme.

These are some great places to find great โ€œcoffee tableโ€ hardback books inexpensively:

  • Amazon.com

  • Ebay.com

  • Yard Sales & Goodwill

  • Your current collection - you may be surprised at what lies beneath those dust jackets of current books you already own. I like to use books both with and without the jackets, so it is always worthwhile to see if there is something better underneath.

These are some beautiful ones I frequently style with:

Decorative Tray

Never underestimate how essential a decorative tray can be in drawing attention to a space. Itโ€™s another great way to draw in potential homeowners with an emotional connection to a space. You can use them on coffee tables, kitchen or island counters, large bathroom counters, entryway tables, and on and on. These are some of my fave options that work for every style of home:

Faux Plants

No space is complete without greenery, and if you are trying to sell your space, greenery in the form of plants will easily help liven things up! This is especially helpful for a home that is already vacant, as it typically has even less to work with as far as furnishings and can at times be in need of some liveliness. There are my some favorite faux options (that also are quite realistic) that can help spruce up a room.

Throw Blanket

The perfect and easy way to spruce up a sofa or chair is with a great throw blanket. A nice neutral woven style like these below work for a lot of different looks. Plus, it gives the comfortable and relaxing feel a room might be lacking that homeowners are looking for.
